About ‘The 10 Year Piano Project’

I’ve been playing piano since September 10th, 1989, took lessons for 3.5 years initially, and then very randomly for a total of 2.5 years up until 2018. When I first started, I just wanted to play ‘all the cool music’, so to me, that was popular music and musicals. I did a short period of Jazz, and I did try classical piano lessons eventually, but never had the patience, or life just kind of got in the way, and prevented me (or I got in my own way) from really taking a deep dive into either genres. Sure, I can play some things, and they definitely aren’t bad attempts, but they can always better.

Since I’m at a period in my life where there is routine and consistency (which is good), and up until now, having no aspirations, I’ve decided to take 10 years to become proficient as possible in Jazz, and maybe classical. This site will chronicle thoughts, inspiration, weekly practice (with the occasional break), to see where I start, and where I end up.

10 years… let’s get to it. (December 1st, 2021)
