I’ve always enjoyed the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition and this year, the winner was Bruce Liu.
“I don’t practice so much … I think I never decided to become a professional pianist. I want to keep the piano as a hobby. Because I don’t want it to become like a routine. A hobby is something that we have a passion for and that we are interested at. I know a lot of people who, when they become a pianist, it’s like they are doing like a job. Then they start to lose the inspiration and the interest for music, which is dangerous,” the 24-year-old said.The Korea Times, November 23, 2021
Couldn’t have said it better myself. I’ve made sure that piano doesn’t turn into a job, and when it has, I’ve stepped away and went back to solely playing for myself.
