‘C Jam Blues’, I believe, is what introduced me to Jazz. I’m not sure where, but I was either gifted, or told (or both), to pick up some Oscar Peterson Trio recordings, and I did just that. Oscar keeps you humble, and the trio is soooo tight and in the groove. Ray Brown on bass, Ed Thigpen on drums. Just wow. Everything is so clean.
These guys are in their own world. Ray and Ed keep an eye on each other and respond to Oscar, while Oscar sings his own part and is so smooth on the keys. I could watch stuff like this forever. Perhaps some day I’ll tinker around with jazz. Until then, I’ll just kick back and enjoy these tunes.
