Day 67 – Where to start?

I had a good break between activities today so I was going through my old music books, trying to find any type of references to Jazz that I may have had. I realized it’s been 30 years since I’ve properly done any Jazz.

I didn’t have any luck, so I browsed the Internet and found some reference material on ‘basics’. Luckily, it was a good refresher. Blues scales, pentatonic scales, chords, inversions, and progressions.

Going over chords in the major key was intriguing as well. Took me a bit of time, but I’m getting the hang of things. I think next on my list is being able to be able to pull out random chords and create a couple different voicings on demand, both root and non-root.

Definitely some good brain tingles and am getting more excited to just jump into it with a teacher. I’m thankful I do recall some aspects, so hopefully it will get me into the more challenging topics quicker. I’m ready to do some good work. 6 more days until the fun begins.
