Day 89 – Smooth and Even

I’ve been trying to figure out why my scales aren’t smoother, even, and not… tonally equivalent (Is that a thing)? Basically not sounding connected, on the cross-over / cross-under there’s a distinct little accent. So I spent yesterday trying to work on resolving that issue, which led me to forget to make a blog entry post, so here it is.

It’s been interesting to sit and analyze my technique, or lack thereof. Watching my hand play the same scale over and over, looking at how to make small changes isn’t frustrating, but is a lot more work than I thought it would be. Am I not shifting my hand enough on the cross-over? Am I using too much thumb on the cross-under? Do I need to balance both more? Is my arm / wrist doing funky things? I took all those into consideration and was able to adjust each one of them a bit and was satisfied with the progress yesterday. I’ll see later if that carries over into today, or if further analyzing is needed.
